University of Alberta One month prior to the first day of term (e.g. August 1 for Fall Term; December 1 for Winter Term)

For courses taken at the University of Alberta, students will be assessed only Non-Instructional fees by the University of Alberta. If a course requires additional expenses under University of Alberta policy, the department will require that the student pay these. Please contact gradmail@ualberta.ca

Athabasca University 4-6 weeks in advance of the course registration deadline WDA requests are only for graduate-level courses; and there are only a limited amount of request granted per fiscal year. Please check our website prior to sending WDA requests from your institution as a notice will be displayed once the fiscal year's quota has been reached.

University of British Columbia 6 weeks prior to the start of the term More information.  International students registered at a partner Canadian university taking courses at UBC through one of the exchange agreements will automatically be assessed the iMED fee. For those who already have coverage, you must follow an opt-out procedure to have the iMED fees lifted. information on opting out of the iMED insurance.

Concordia University of Edmonton

Minimum of 6 weeks before the start of enrollment

Graduate students from Concordia University of Edmonton, who are interested in participating in this program, must contact the Faculty of Graduate Studies before seeking enrollment in courses at another participating institution under this program. 

External students from institutions that participate in this agreement, and who wish to learn about course opportunities at Concordia University of Edmonton, should consult our website, or contact us via email sent to dean.graduatestudies@concordia.ab.ca for additional information.

As early as possible, however, every effort will be made to accommodate completed requests submitted to CGPS at least two weeks prior to the start of term

Inbound WDA students are assessed USask fees based on the number of credit units they register in. For example, if they register in a single class, part-time fees will be assessed. A full listing of student fees is available here.

Vancouver Island University 6 weeks before the start of the course Students would be required to complete an application for admission to VIU after they have been approved by their home university. 
University of Victoria 6 weeks before the start of the course

Students applying to take courses at UVic under the Western Deans’ Agreement will be asked to submit an application for admission at uvic.ca/application. There is no application fee.

Please note that some courses at host universities may require instructor approval prior to applying for the course via the WDA form. In this case, it is the responsibility for the student to check this information through the host university. Proof of approval from the instructor should be attached to the WDA form.
